ABOUT
During my internship at Moong Labs, I had the incredible opportunity to contribute to the development of an exhilarating free-to-play hyper-casual endless runner game known as "Missile Jolt." As an Intern Game Designer, I played a key role in shaping the game's concept, design, and overall experience. The project spanned four months, from June 2015 to September 2015, and was designed for both iOS and Android platforms.
In "Missile Jolt," players are invited to embark on a thrilling 2D endless runner adventure, where they take control of various planes soaring through the skies. As the player assumes the role of a fighter jet, their objective is to utilize one-tap controls to shoot missiles strategically, gaining upward momentum and soaring to new heights.
To intensify the gameplay experience, players must simultaneously aim and shoot down enemy aircraft while being cautious not to harm innocent civilians. The game's one-tap control mechanics ensure accessibility and appeal to a broad audience of casual gamers, making it easy for players to jump right into the action.
Amidst the adrenaline-pumping action, players must also navigate around ominous clouds, as flying into them poses a significant risk of being struck by thunder. This added challenge keeps players engaged and requires quick reflexes as they strive to achieve high scores.
As an Intern Game Designer, I actively contributed to the project's success by pitching the concept and translating it into detailed game design documents. These documents served as a blueprint for the development team, outlining the core mechanics, gameplay rules, and the overall flow of the game.
Additionally, I played a vital role in ensuring the game's level balancing, which entailed finely tuning the difficulty progression to provide an enjoyable and progressively challenging experience for players. This aspect was crucial to maintain player engagement and motivate them to achieve higher scores.
Furthermore, I was responsible for designing the game's user interface (UI) mockups and ensuring a seamless flow, making certain that the interface was intuitive, visually appealing, and optimized for player convenience.
Throughout the development process, I collaborated closely with the talented team at Moong Labs, actively contributing my ideas and creativity to shape "Missile Jolt" into an addictive and thrilling endless runner game.
Although "Missile Jolt" is no longer available on app stores, the knowledge and experience gained during my internship at Moong Labs were invaluable. This project instilled in me a deep appreciation for hyper-casual gaming and further fueled my passion for creating captivating gaming experiences. The lessons learned and skills honed during this internship continue to drive my pursuit of excellence in game design.
